Overview

A trip to Tibet is a unique experience. The high altitudes require from each participant tolerance, flexibility, and good physical condition. WILD YAK LUXURY Tibet Shangri-La journey offers an exclusive combination of the two Himalayan cultures of Nepal and Tibet. Our Trip starts with the sightseeing of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu before flying across the Himalaya range to Lhasa. Lhasa is the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region. A city at 3640 meters, the home of around 500,000 people, of which about one-third of Tibetans. The "City of the Gods" was founded by Songtsen Gampo who reigned from 620 to 649 AC. The palace of the first king of Tibet stood at the same place as the famous Potala Palace, which overlooks the city and was the religious and political center of Tibet until the 14th Dalai Lama in 1959, year of the cultural revolution. With its 15,000 columns that carry the ceiling of over 750 halls and its golden roofs, the Potala Palace is one of the most famous and legendary monuments of mankind. Your visit continues with the Jokhang Temple is considered as the most sacred and important temple of Tibetan Buddhism's and aims thus endless streams of pilgrims. On the road from Lhasa to Shigatse, you see the traditional houses of the Tibetan people in the middle of the stunning lunar landscape. Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet and was the home of Panchen Lama, the second most important person in Tibetan Buddhism. On your Trip to Mount Everest Base Camp, you discover the spectacular panorama on the Himalayan range with some of the highest peaks of the World (Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse) before the first glimpse of the mighty Mount Everest, the Goddess, which will leave you simply speechless. On the way back to Lhasa, a stop is worth to visit the Palkhor Monastery before enjoying a short stop at the beautiful Yamdrok Lake, a freshwater lake and one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet.
